Update – BAA Strikes Called Off

Travellers can breathe a sigh of relief as the proposed strike by BAA employees has been called off. After talks yesterday, an agreement was reached between BAA and the Unite union regarding a new pay deal.

Unions will be recommending their members vote to accept the proposed settlement. Details of the pay agreement will be made public once staff have been advised of the new offer.

The planned strike would have spelt disaster for passengers moving through BAA’s 6 airports and has renewed calls to break up BAA’s monopoly of UK airports.
