Next stop... space!

I have travelled to the grand old USA, marvelled at the Kennedy Space Centre, sat in the old space shuttle shells and done the wonderful Cape Canaveral tour. I still have my little NASA Astronaut on my desk! But I never thought that space travel would be a possibility in my lifetime. I don’t mean NASA space travel, I mean me as an average person, leisure holiday space travel. Well believe it or not, it is a reality thanks to Richard Branson’s total belief in the unbelievable, and his ultimate entrepreneurial spirit.

While we are all huddling down in our winter woollies, our Northern hemisphere neighbours are breathing a sigh of relief that they have some rays of summer sunshine to look forward to. January and February 2012 brought some of the coldest temperatures Europe had seen for years, with temperatures in some places dipping below -36c. Looking back at some of their amazing, yet almost unreal, winter photos has made us realise that, while we love a grand European winter holiday, we are certainly grateful for our South African winters!

A Royal River of Red, Blue & White: The Diamond Jubilee

Nothing spells London more than the Queen, Union Jack and Tower Bridge overlooking the Thames. And for anyone visiting the capital city this past weekend, all 3 iconic images were in abundance. The Thames turned into a sea of red, white and blue as spectators thronged the riverbank on Day 2 of the Diamond Jubilee weekend celebrations.
